The distinction between extension and amplification is important. Seo’s resin forms lengthen and redirect the body’s existing lines, extending limbs and movements. The individual nail contributes to the altered body it helps to create.
Seo calls these forms “extended bodies.” Through image and material, she considers how these elongated shapes interact with one another. The work looks beyond how extension changes one body and considers the new relationshipss created between extended bodies.
